A-43E Dart Tactical Strike Aircraft
The Dart is the Republic Air Force's principal tactical strike and close air support aircraft. It is operated under the Air Force's Air Service Type system as the A-43. The current A-43E standard is a two-seat aircraft with a pilot and weapons systems officer, reflecting the Air Force doctrine that demanding strike missions require specialised crew roles.

Armament
The Dart normally carries guided bombs, anti-armour missiles, bunker-attack weapons and short-range air defence missiles for self-protection. The ASM-43 Bracken, generally called Millstone in service, remains associated with the type because the aircraft's WSO station is well suited to target confirmation, collateral assessment and post-launch control.
Avionics and Sensors
The A-43E standard uses the AFR-43E Burrow terrain-following and ground-moving-target radar made by SecureWing Avionics. It gives the crew low-level route keeping, surface moving-target indication and precision weapons cueing in poor weather. The AFO-43D Lancer Pod targeting sensor, also supplied by SecureWing, provides forward-looking infrared, laser designation and post-strike imagery. SkyNet Systems supplies the AFE-43E Bracken self-protection suite for radar warning, missile warning, jamming control and expendable countermeasures. QuantumNav Systems supplies the AFN-43C Stonepath terrain-navigation suite, while SecureWing and CipherSoft maintain the cockpit software that allows rapid handover between pilot and WSO.
Operational Aspects
Dart squadrons are attached to Tactical Strike Wings but frequently train with army brigades. The aircraft is valued less for raw performance than for the reliability of its crews in confused ground battles. A typical mission has the pilot managing the aircraft, formation and threat reactions while the WSO handles sensors, maps, weapons, ground communications and kill-chain discipline.
