A readable reference, with its seams showing
The Living Atlas is a fictional setting reference. Most source prose is deliberately presented in-world; this page explains the presentation layer around it.
Dates are not interchangeable
As of identifies the facts or edition represented by a source. Last reviewed identifies the most recent canon review. The site does not turn review dates into in-world events.
Maps may be schematic
The Republic atlas uses the supplied schematic GeoJSON with a persistent warning. Syndicate settlements use a regional diagram, not an invented geographic map. International relationships are likewise schematic.
Canon and uncertainty stay visible
Source status, declared authority, dependencies, relationships and qualifications are preserved. Missing data is omitted or shown as “not separately reported”.
Static by design
The build discovers Markdown and YAML locally, then writes static HTML, CSS, JavaScript and JSON. Reader/Research mode, bookmarks and recent pages use localStorage only; there is no account, analytics or server storage.
Build notes
Stable IDs anchor generated URLs. Safe CommonMark rendering disables raw HTML. Links between canonical Markdown sources become links between generated source pages, with backlinks collected from those explicit links. This presentation layer does not edit canonical input.
