Zorin is a restricted production district rather than an open city. Permit Gate controls entry; Workers' Ring contains assigned flats and dormitories; Test Spur connects works rail to guarded ranges; South Stores is the only substantial public shopping area. Households are unusually dependent on one employer, and marriages often join two access records rather than two independent addresses.

Secure metallurgy, missile-component production, maintenance and protective services provide nearly all formal work. Secondary work is limited to schools, clinics, kitchens, repair depots and approved household plots. Zorin Institute trains process and signals technicians under security supervision. The district clinic is well supplied for employees and their dependants but difficult for outsiders to use. A staff train connects to Drevak on controlled days; internal buses are the ordinary transport.

Malgor Domestic appliances, Red Ledger notebooks and ForgeLine tools are visible because they are allocated through the works. Local notices are read at the gate, canteen and school rather than circulated freely. The annual test-range stand-down is the main holiday window. Zorin is proud of technical reliability; outsiders describe it as a place where nobody knows who is listening.
