Sevrin

Sevrin is a mixed port-market city in the Maritime Arc, often called Salt Quay. Ropewalk holds ship and net repair; Salt Quay is the fish market and customs edge; Dockside Blocks contain port flats and dormitories; Lantern Market serves crews, traders and families. Tenure follows the port: older families own small flats, seasonal workers occupy dormitories, and a nurse or customs clerk may wait years for a permanent dwelling.

The harbour authority, fisheries, customs stores, ship repair and cold rooms employ most residents. Secondary work includes port catering, licensed stalls, translation, unofficial haulage and appliance repair. Sevrin Maritime College trains deck, refrigeration and cargo staff. Dockside Clinic works with the port hospital but lacks quiet beds during accident weeks. Shift buses and Ordan Parcel counters make the city legible to families separated by the coast.

Ordan Blue Label, North Rime Fish offices and Vosk Coffee Substitute are ordinary references, not national luxuries. A local station bulletin, notice boards and port loudspeakers provide the day's practical information. The winter herring run and the May dock football cup mark the calendar. Sevrin is proud that nothing arrives broken if its workers can reach it; outsiders call it ungovernable. A tolerated practice is a crew member bringing a small foreign household item through a market stall rather than a formal import office. The closed Lantern Cinema is now a customs warehouse, though older supporters still meet under its old sign. The dispute is whether Salt Quay should receive more security inspection or more market space. The Orun household depends on both: Ana works at the clinic, Lev sells fish, and their nephew records foreign music that he will not play near the port police.
