Rudagrad
Rudagrad is a mountain city of dams, tunnels and hospitals. Spillway Estate contains hydropower families; Upper Switchback is a steep, mixed-income district; Turbine Yard is the rail and workshop edge; Old Pass is a village absorbed by the city. Apartments are compact and durable, while older mountain houses remain in extended-family hands. Winter access determines whether a household is effectively urban or temporarily isolated.
Hydropower, tunnel construction, timber, road maintenance and the mountain hospital employ residents. Secondary work includes guiding, wool production, repair and school transport. Rudagrad Technical Institute trains turbine, electrical and road specialists. The mountain hospital is respected for trauma care but often loses staff to capital postings. Cable buses, service lorries and a single rail approach make commuting a matter of weather.
High Ruda Hydropower Goods, Eskar Wool and Vardun Copperware are local reference points. The hydro control room's notice system, school radio and church or civic hall announcements circulate information. The spring thaw and autumn dam inspection are shared seasonal pressures. Rudagrad is proud of solving difficult problems; outsiders call it insular. A tolerated practice is using a maintenance workshop to make household fittings after the official shift. The former Pass Cinema is now a training hall, still remembered by its red steps. The dispute is whether a new transmission line should cross a burial ground and minority grazing route.
