Millbank industrial household

Millbank industrial household

Jon Bell works maintenance at a Harrowby steel contractor; his partner Keira teaches at Millbank secondary school; Jon's father is retired from the canal works; their daughter is applying to a technical college. They own a small post-war house with a mortgage and a garden workshop. Their routines follow shifts, school buses, football at Millbank's municipal ground and a Friday meal of leftovers and packed lunches.

The household depends on the school, the steel contractor, the state clinic, the canal authority and a union branch that remembers older closures. Jon supports industrial work and defence contracts; Keira distrusts repeated overtime and air-quality promises. Their current pressure is a maintenance contract that may move to a larger city. The daughter wants an apprenticeship in Blue Skies, while her grandfather wants a local trade to keep the family near the canal. They are plausible organisers of a regional procurement or school transport dispute.
