Drevak
Drevak is an Iron and Chemical Belt city built around steel, chemical works and rail maintenance. Cinder Steps climbs the old ash slope; Furnace Estate contains workplace flats and a clinic; North Canal has allotments, barge repair and lower-cost housing; Old Foundry is a mixed industrial and small-workshop quarter. Most households are shaped by shift work, plant benefits and pollution exposure. Grandparents often handle children when both adults work nights.
The Drevak Combine, rail depots and municipal utilities dominate employment. Secondary work includes boiler repair, canteen supply, scrap sorting, hairdressing and market trade. Drevak Technical College trains welders, instrument technicians and process operators. Furnace Clinic is competent at industrial injury but short of specialist respiratory care. Staff buses and rail sidings organise the day more than the street plan does.
ForgeLine Tools, North Ward Boots and Match Factory Sports are signs of local pride. The plant radio carries shift notices, football scores and safety reminders; workers also rely on handwritten boiler and parts lists. The yearly maintenance shutdown is a family event because it is the one dependable time for repairs and leave. Drevak is proud of making equipment that survives; outsiders call it dirty and politically troublesome. A tolerated rule-bend is removing a usable bearing from scrap before the official disposal crew arrives. The former Workers' Bathhouse is now a security archive, remembered as the place where entire shifts met after work. The live dispute concerns whether a chemical line should close for environmental repairs at the cost of hundreds of jobs. The Drazek family sits on both sides: grandfather Olek wants the plant preserved, while his daughter and technical-college granddaughter want the pollution measured honestly.
