Cinderfield is a dense Capital borough of garment work, appliance repair, food production, migrant enterprise and reconstruction housing.

Twenty-two per cent of residents are under 18, 10% are 65 or older and 36% use two or more languages regularly. The borough contains forty wards and 910,000 households. Labour and the Rights League hold 69 of 100 council seats; Civic Union 18, Development 8 and others 5. In the 2025 Territory election Labour led 39%, Civic 21%, Rights 16%, Development 11% and others 13%; federal first preferences in 2024 were Labour 38%, Civic 23%, Rights 14%, Development 12% and others 13%.

The employed workforce is 1.18 million. East Yards Rail Repair employs 42,000, Cinder Lane apparel and contractors 31,000, the borough health network 86,000 and municipal or school services 74,000. Unemployment is 6.9%. Median full-time pay is R$41,200 and household disposable income R$67,000. Two-bedroom rent is R$2,080, median home price R$570,000, household energy R$2,140 and typical monthly transport R$188.

Municipal revenue is R$18.6bn, expenditure R$19.4bn, debt R$27.8bn and maintenance backlog R$14.2bn. The borough operates 3,240 schools or early-years sites and 38 hospitals or major clinics; specialist care is concentrated at Southbank. Metro, tram and twenty-four-hour bus routes carry 3.7 million weekday trips. Freight from East Yards and High Road Junction creates noise and fine-particle exposure; 14% of homes exceed the Territory pollution guideline.

The Cinderfield Record is the largest local newspaper. Council Leader Samira Vale, Clear Ledger organiser Daren Ash and Cinderfield Tenants Union chair Mei Quill are the principal civic actors. Current disputes concern conversion of repair land to housing, a clean-freight zone that small firms say they cannot afford, and compulsory purchase for the Cinderfield Tramway extension.
