Arvessa
Arvessa is a grain-exchange and farm-machinery city in the Southern Grain and Irrigation Provinces. Silo Row is dominated by elevators and rail; Orchard Flats houses seasonal families; Canal End follows irrigation offices and workshops; Red Granary Road connects markets to the rural edge. Houses and compounds are larger than in the Core, but many adults spend part of the year in dormitories or on contract work.
The grain exchange, flour mills, farm machinery depots and state farms are the main employers. Secondary work includes repair, household plots, poultry, food stalls and seasonal transport. Arvessa Agricultural College links mechanics and agronomy to the farm offices. Canal Clinic provides routine care; complicated births and injuries require a long rail transfer. Freight rail is reliable during harvest and crowded at other times, while shared minibuses bridge the irrigation roads.
Red Granary, Gerdan Sun Oil and Safe Steps footwear are associated with competence and childhood. A market loudspeaker, school board and cooperative notice wall matter more than a formal newspaper. The harvest weigh-in, winter seed allocation and pension distribution set the annual rhythm. Arvessa is proud of feeding the cities; outsiders call its people slow and evasive. A tolerated practice is exchanging fuel or a tractor part across farms before the quota office records the movement. The closed Silo Workers' Club has become a wedding hall but retains its old portrait wall. The live dispute concerns whether irrigation water should favour a new state farm or established household plots. The Merek compound uses every network it has: grandmother Lida keeps the plot, cousins drive seasonal lorries and one grandson wants an urban technical placement.
